LMS MOODLE TOOLS INVENTORY IMPLEMENTATION TO ASSURE QUALITY IN-SERVICE TEACHER TRAINING

Abstract

The article outlines the possibilities of using Moodle tools to provide high-quality postgraduate education for teachers. It proves that interaction, exchange of experience and involvement of teachers in the assessment with the help of Moodle tools implements andragogical principles of postgraduate education. Moodle tools (forum, poll, task, test) provide the effectiveness of distance learning of teachers, meet their needs, provide professional development. It is justified that the quality of postgraduate education is improved due to teachers’ involvement in discussion, mutual evaluation, reflection and the use of interactive and project technologies. It is given examples of remote modules design in ICT competence development with different set of Moodle tools. The results of the experiment on distance learning of 300 teachers using various tools of Moodle (lecture, task, forum, questioning, questionnaire, test) are presented. The efficiency of implementation of remote modules with different structure and types of tasks is analyzed. It is proved that the lecture in the distance format should be with tests to understand its content, and the tasks should be of three types: to understand, use and develop new knowledge.

Teachers' questionnaire concerning satisfaction of distant to training and possibility of using distance technologies of studying at school proved the hypothesis of the possibilities of procuring qualified education with the help of Moodle instruments. The task of the first and the second levels (knowledge, comprehension) must be introduced by exercises with automatic system of evaluation (tests) for control or education. Teachers must do these exercises after acquirement of lection materials, turn to teaching materials and pass the tests several times, if needed. The task of the third level (usage) are checked by mutual evaluation of the work by the listeners themselves. For effective communication and organized cooperation of course attendances in every distance Moodle there is a needed to include tasks concerning opportunity to review and evaluate the examples of tutor and the work of other teachers.
